Tim Addison
The son of a naval officer, Tim has been connected to the RCN all his life. He was christened in HMCS ONTARIO, attended Royal Roads and RMCC and served 34 years in the Navy. Highlights of his sea-going career include two deployments in the Arabian Gulf. In NDHQ he held a variety of positions in the Joint and Maritime (RCN) Staffs, Chief of Force Development, and the Vice Chief of Defence Staff Group. He attended CF Command and Staff College in 1998 and the Advanced Military Studies Course in 2001. In 2003-04 Tim had the unique experience of being seconded to Transport Canada where he carried out the duties of Chief of Marine Security Operations and was recognized by the Deputy Minister with a Commendation for his contribution to TC’s Marine Security program and for the introduction of Canada’s new Marine Transportation Security Regulations. On retirement from the CAF in 2006 Tim joined a management consulting company as Director of Business Development and Delivery Manager on the DND Account. He is now an independent consultant who provides business development expertise to help clients penetrate the Canadian defence market. Tim has been on the Board of Directors of the NAC Ottawa Branch since Oct 2014. In 2016 he took on the role of Vice President – Program responsible for the monthly Guest Speaker Program and organizing the Battle of the Atlantic Gala Dinners. He is also a member of RMC Ex-Cadet Club, the Navy League of Canada Maritime Affairs Alliance, the HMCS Bytown Naval Officers’ Mess and the Hylands Golf Club in Ottawa, ON. Tim is married to Susan Newhook of Grand Falls, Nfld and they have one son, Tim J who works in the defence industry in Nova Scotia.
